Re: "Voting Republican is madness" [Village News, 10/31/13]

I had concluded I would write no more letters to the editor (I am age 90) and then along came Jon Monday’s letter (The Village News, Oct. 31). It is a classic example of the convoluted thinking of liberals. To infer that the Democrats are more thrifty than Republicans is ludicrous in the extreme.

He fails to mention that a substantial portion of the administrations of Republican presidents were with a Democratic majority in Congress and if Congress had not been so resistant to fiscal austerity the deficits would have been less.

If Mr. Monday is concerned about our huge debt (he should be as I am) then I suggest he join the Tea Party movement which came to be because of the disenchantment with the excess spending inclinations of Congress, both Democrats and some Republicans.

I have wondered if President Obama’s anti-business actions are because of naiveté or a purposeful effort to destroy capitalism. It is easy to assume it is purposeful because he has ignored the successful economic recovery under Reagan with his business friendly policies. Give President Clinton credit. He left those policies in place with the result his administration was fiscally sound.

Those who want to destroy this nation – vote Democratic.
