Warriors 3-2 in first round of league volleyball

After the first round of Avocado West League play, Fallbrook High School’s volleyball team had a 3-2 league record.

Although a three-game loss to Carlsbad on Oct. 16 left the Warriors with a 1-2 league record, Fallbrook defeated Carlsbad in three games Oct. 18 on the Lancers’ court and obtained a three-game sweep over Vista Oct. 23 at home.

“We’ve been winning. That’s good,” said Fallbrook coach Robin Reese.

The wins over Carlsbad were by 29-27, 25-20, and 25-23 scores. Fallbrook prevailed over Vista in 25-17, 25-20, and 25-19 games.

Fallbrook outside hitter Kendra Dahlke had 20 kills with no hitting errors against Vista while recording 22 digs without a digging error against the Panthers. “Kendra had a great night against Vista,” Reese said.

Jessi Fagrell, who is Fallbrook’s setter, had a season-high 33 assists. Middle blocker Brooke Bishop provided six blocks and six kills. Outside hitter Sarah Grantham provided 10 kills. “We’re starting to be able to use other hitters besides Kendra,” Reese said.

The win over Vista gave the Warriors a 17-11 overall record along with the 3-2 league mark.
