One Injured, One Dead in Collision between Temecula and Rainbow

TEMECULA- A Canadian tourist was killed and another injured in a motorcycle wreck in Temecula, authorities said today.

Sgt. John Mangan of the Temecula Police Department said the female tourist was the passenger on a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Charles Arnstin of Alberta, Canada.

Mangan said Arnstin and his passenger, also from Alberta, were westbound in the 44,000 block of Rainbow Canyon Road around 2:15 p.m. Thursday when Arnstin lost control on the wet road surface and both were thrown from the bike.

Mangan said the woman, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries. He said Arnstin was also injured and treated at a hospital.

Riverside COUNTY SHERIFF PRESS RELEASE - On Thursday, November 21, 2013, officers from the Temecula Police Department responded to the area of the Temecula Creek Inn at 44501 Rainbow Canyon Road, Temecula, regarding a reported traffic collision. Upon the officer’s arrival, along with other rescue personnel, they located a male and female lying in the roadway suffering from major injuries. The female was taken immediately to a nearby medical facility, but later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at 2:35 PM.

Further investigation revealed Charles Arnstin of Alberta, Canada and a female passenger from Alberta, Canada were traveling westbound on Rainbow Canyon Road on a 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle when they lost control of the motorcycle on the wet roadway. The subjects were thrown from motorcycle onto the roadway. Mr. Arnstin sustained injuries and was transported to a local medical facility for treatment.

At this time of the investigation, alcohol/drug involvement is not suspected as a factor in this collision and the investigation is continuing. The roadway was closed for approximately four hours while members of the Temecula Police Department’s Traffic Collision Reconstruction Team conducted their investigation.
