Save our Forest receives donation from car club

FALLBROOK – On behalf of the Fallbrook Vintage Car Club, Joe Kueneman recently presented a donation to Save Our Forest chairman Jackie Heyneman, Save Our Forest, a branch of the Fallbrook Land Conservancy, is an all volunteer organization that began in 1993 by planting trees and shrubs throughout the greater Fallbrook area. To date, the group has added over 6500 trees and shrubs which have served to enhance the beauty and charm of the community. Over 2650 of this total have been planted in the downtown portion of the Village which extends from E. Mission at I-15 to S. Mission at Winter Haven.

Along with the planting eventually comes the maintenance and so, specifically, the donation from the Car Club will be used to support a part time employee for maintenance work on S. Mission Rd. and to help defray the expense of retaining a professional pruning company to perform work on the Pico Paths as requested by the SD County Sheriff’s Dept. to facilitate better surveillance.

Recently, the Save Our Forest Group planted 13 in-ground trees and installed planter areas in the large public parking lot to the East of the Fallbrook Library. Their current project involves replacements of the giant Ficus trees on Main St. that had to be removed.
