Confronting the health insurance companies and Tea Party, Obama managed to make a tiny dent in the health insurance monopoly by requiring policies conforms to these minimum standards: no penalty for pre-existing conditions; kids stay on policies until age 26; no annual or lifetime caps; no penalty for being a woman; no termination of coverage due to illness; covered checkups and preventive care; cap on profit and overhead at 20 percent of premiums.
