Harvard University's head softball coach to hold two-day holiday camp in Temecula

Jenny Allard is in her 19th season as head coach at Harvard and is looking to bring the softball players in the Valley a special holiday treat with two fun-filled days of workouts at an upcoming softball camp for all skill levels at Linfield Christian High School on Dec. 27 and 28.

With Allard holding the reigns as head coach in 2012, Harvard posted a 35-15 overall mark and breezed to the Ivy League Championship earning a spot in the NCAA Seattle Regional where it notched upsets over Maryland and No. 23 Texas Tech in back-to-back elimination games to earn a berth in the NCAA Regional final.

The accolades run deep in her background, as a graduate of the University of Michigan Allard was a third baseman and pitcher at Michigan where she was named the Wolverines' Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Pitcher. She was also a four-time All-Big Ten Conference selection, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors as a senior, and in 1989 she was the Big Ten Player of the Year and a Division I All-America selection.

Alongside the Crimson head coach will be Phil Bruder, who is the director of Strategis Champions Softball Training and head coach of the Raiders Club Softball team. Also joining the instructors at the camp will be Director of Pitching, Stacy Nelson.

Bruder is a renowned softball instructor who has over 25 years of club and college coaching experience in which he personally coached 12 ASA National Champions, 290 full four-year scholarship winners, 132 All-Americans and nine Olympians. He holds the current record for travel ball coaches by winning the 12 ASA National Championships and his daughter, Kelsey Bruder, was the 2011 NCAA Softball Player of the Year award winner at Florida and an Academic All American.

Stacy Nelson is a former All-American pitcher for the Florida Gators softball team and is considered one of the best pitchers in NCAA softball history. She earned 2008-09 First-Team NFCA/Louisville Slugger All-American honors, 2008-2009 Southeastern Conference Player of the Year honors and led University of Florida to its first Women's College World Series berth in 2008 as well as a national runner-up appearance in the 2009 Women's College World Series.

The camp is for girls ages 8-18 and will take place on Dec. 28-29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both days. Linfield Christian School is located at 31950 Pauba Rd. Go to collegesoftballcamps.com/softball/crimson to find our more details about costs and/or to register.
