Live Oak students give back to the community

FALLBROOK – Live Oak Elementary student body and staff have been working on developing leadership skills and “helping those in need” in the community. In November, the school raised 800 cans of food for the Fallbrook Food Pantry.

In third week of December, the school and staff raised over $400 in their “Coins for Kids” campaign. Students were charged with bringing in their loose change and students waited at car pick up to collect bags of change. Student council treasurer Emiliano Corona and other students filled bank rolls with change.

Mrs. Garner, school health tech, purchases meals and gifts for four needy families in the community. “I’ve been at Live Oak Elementary for seven years and students and staff have always adopted needy families and reached out to the community,” said LOE Principal Lilly Perez.

Perez also said that the school is focusing on developing the “7 Habits of Leadership” for all students based on Stephen Covey’s Leadership Habits. School staff is focused on teaching students how to be leaders in their community and how giving back to the community are qualities of a good citizen.

She added, “Next month we will collect Blankets for Babies and those will be donated to community members as well. I congratulate the student body for their philanthropic project and ongoing leadership in the community.”
