LeBistro to close beginning of year

LeBistro, a Fallbrook tradition in the heart of Main Street for over 34 years, is about to close its doors at the first of the year. Why, you might ask? How has this happened?

New owners took over LeBistro in November 2012 to provide a challenge in retirement but, more importantly, to preserve a Fallbrook landmark restaurant.

Despite a varied advertising campaign and creative promotions, the business has not generated sufficient regular diners. There are Fallbrook and out-of-town patrons who appreciate the ambiance with an ever-changing art exhibit, gourmet food and excellent wine cellar. However, a lovely dinner at LeBistro, once yearly for a special occasion, cannot sustain the business.

We take this opportunity to thank all our past patrons. Ideas or advice that would generate more regular diners, would be considered, otherwise it will be sold. (For either, call 760-419-6472)

As you see longtime businesses close, or see new hopeful owners take over, or see new downtown enterprises open, remember that folks don’t invest in downtown Fallbrook to get rich. In the best of times, our small businesses struggle; and with today’s spotty economy they are relying on your support to see them through to better times.

Every time you choose Temecula, Vista, Escondido or San Diego when you could have shopped or dined locally, you make it much more difficult for businesses in our charming village to thrive.
