The recent leakage of 4-methylcyclohexane methanol into the Elk River in Charleston, WV has forced the used of bottled water for all purposes for several days in nine counties.
The Elk River is the source of drinking water for these nine counties. And it’s not just West Virginia’s problem. The chemical plume is proceeding slowly down the watercourse and will affect cities along the Ohio River and water supplies in Ohio and Kentucky as it heads to the Mississippi River.
