Alicia Owen, 76, passed away on March 13, 2014, at her home in Fallbrook. Born June 21, 1937 in Mexico City, she was raised in Tlaxcala, Mexico and educated at University of Mexico, University of Jalisco, University of Puebla (bachelor's of science degree), Palomar College, and University of San Diego with an emphasis in math and science.
She taught in Mexico for 16 years before moving to Fallbrook in 1972. She went to work at Fallbrook High School in the bilingual program and dedicated her skill and enthusiasm to helping Latino students succeed.
Alicia was an avid, global traveler with an adventuresome spirit, and a champion dancer. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Dennis; seven brothers and sisters, and five nieces.
Visitation will be held on Tues., March 18, from 4 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 6:30 p.m. at Berry Bell & Hall Fallbrook Mortuary. Funeral Mass will be held on Wed., March 19 at 11 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Fallbrook.
