Fallbrook Football Boosters to hold golf tournament fundraiser

FALLBROOK – The 18th annual Fallbrook Football Booster golf tournament, dinner, auction and dance, scheduled for June 14 at Pala Mesa Golf Resort, has an additional purpose this year. While the annual event is a necessary fundraiser for the football program as budget cuts go deeper each year and the majority of the football program’s expenses are covered by the Boosters now, this year they are donating a portion of their proceeds to the Semper Fi Fund.

The Semper Fi Fund, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, and its counterpart program, America’s Fund, are set up to provide immediate financial assistance and lifetime support for injured and critically ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. They direct urgently needed resources to post 9/11 service members, who meet their criteria for assistance, from the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Reserves.

The two funds provide financial, emotional, and tiered support for injured/ill service members and their families through the following programs: Family Support, Adaptive Housing, Adaptive Transportation, Specialized Equipment, Education and Career Transitioning, Rehabilitative Sports programs, and more.

According to Fallbrook Football Booster President, Gregg Whitesell, “We are making a concerted effort to connect more with our community and a large part of this community is our Camp Pendleton service men and women and their families. This is one of several ways we are reaching out to affect positive change in the community we live in.”

Fallbrook Football Boosters is also planning a Military Night at one of their five home games this year and plans to honor and thank them on that evening as well. “From one Warrior to another, we want to personally thank them for their service to our country,” explained Whitesell.

The golf tournament on June 14 will begin with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. with check beginning at noon. Following the tournament will be a cocktail hour/silent auction dinner and a live auction with a real auctioneer will follow. Rounding out the evening, there will be a live band for dancing to music of the 1970s and 1980s - until midnight.

The community is invited to join in the fun of the golf tournament and/or the dinner dance portion of the evening. For more information and to register, stop by the Pala Mesa Pro Shop, visit the Fallbrook Football website at http://www.FallbrookFootball.com, or call Gregg Whitesell at
