Firefighters fight small blaze in Poway

A fire blackened about a half-acre of brush today outside of Poway.

Smoke from the brush fire was spotted in the 13900 block of state Route 67, near Sycamore Park Drive, shortly before 1 p.m., according to the Lakeside Fire Protection District and the California Highway Patrol.

The fire was spreading at a slow to moderate rate in medium fuels, according to Cal Fire, which also responded.
