The Automated Weather Observation System at Fallbrook Community Airpark is now operational.
“It is now up and running and working just fine,” said County Airports director Pete Drinkwater.
The AWOS was commissioned in early December, but frequency issues led to a delay in Federal Aviation Administration certification until February.
“It’s a big step forward for us,” Drinkwater said. “It has all that state-of-the-art stuff that the old system didn’t have.”
Pilots can access the AWOS through frequency 118.425, and AWOS information for the airport is also available by telephone at (760) 723-6073....
