Safety tips for homeowners going on summer vacation

FALLBROOK – Sheriff’s Dept. crime prevention specialist John McLelland would like to suggest that local residents be aware of these safety tips when preparing to go on summer vacation.

• Keep the shrubbery and trees around a house thinned and pruned low.

• Make sure to have full lighting coverage around the perimeter of a home.

• While away on vacation, leave several lamps on overlapping timers.

• Make a home appear occupied at all times, even if it isn’t.
