Time for a national discussion on immigration

The debate over the nation’s border policies continues. In this region, the debate is fueled by the regular arrival of planeloads of illegal immigrants from Texas for processing at facilities in San Diego and Riverside counties.

A facility to house these immigrants was recently rejected by Escondido authorities over land-use concerns. In addition, citizens of Murrieta have prevented busloads of newly-arrived illegal immigrants from being unloaded at the Murrieta Border Patrol facility.
