Pietro Sciumbato

Pietro Sciumbato died July 13, 2014. He was born March 3, 1923 in Rizzuti, Calabria, Italy. He immigrated to America with his mother in 1936, settling in Valley, Nebraska. At 19, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for over 20 years.

Pete met the love of his life, Ruth Ljungren, on Treasure Island in San Francisco in 1949 and they were married in 1950. His career with the Navy took Pete and Ruth to Utah, Guam, National City, Rome, and back to San Diego.
