4 to 6 ft. surf expected with Tropical Storm Marie, strong rip currents

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego County coastline is in for another day of strong rip currents and larger than normal surf today resulting from a Tropical Storm Marie-related swell, forecasters said.

A National Weather Service beach hazards statement for the county's coastal areas is set to remain in effect through 1 a.m. Friday.

Surf of 6 to 8 feet with occasional sets that could reach up to 10 feet are expected to hit the beaches of northern Orange County, but forecasters said the surf along San Diego County beaches would generally stay under 7 feet.
