N.C. Fire approves raise for staff; two percent salary increase is first since 2008

The North County Fire Protection District (NCFPD) board voted 5-0 Aug. 26 to approve a 2 percent salary increase for all NCFPD employees other than fire chief Bill Metcalf and reserve firefighters.

“They were very grateful,” Metcalf said. “I think everyone was happy that we at least were able to make a move in the right direction.”

The recession which began in 2008 adversely affected NCFPD revenues. “Basically the last time the employees received any increase in compensation was in 2008,” Metcalf said.
