Eighteen arrested in North County gang sweep

NORTH SAN DIEGO COUNTY - Law enforcement agents arrested 18 gang members and seized drugs and a gun during an overnight probation compliance sweep in San Marcos that began Friday night, Sept. 12 and ended today.

Officers from several agencies, acting as the North County Law Enforcement Alliance, conducted the probation sweep at 10 p.m. Friday in San Marcos, Sgt. Matt Blumenthal said.

Officers made 11 felony arrests and seven misdemeanor arrests in the sweep that targeted known gangs and gang members in San Marcos, Blumenthal said.
