Healthcare district shelves core services vote

The Fallbrook Healthcare District board of directors stayed a decision on which core services will be retained at Fallbrook Hospital at a scheduled board meeting on Sept. 10, in the shadow of Community Health Services (Fallbrook Hospital Corp.) closing its labor and delivery unit on Sept. 3.

The for-profit company, based in Tennessee, has cited financial losses as the reason it wishes to discontinue its contract. It abruptly suspended maternity (labor and delivery) services.
