Police asking public's help to identify suspected driver of fatal hit and run

OCEANSIDE - Police asked for the public's help today to identify the driver of a late-model Kia Soul involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash with a bicyclist, a sergeant said.

Oceanside police received a report at 5:41 a.m. today that a man's body was in the 3900 block of North River Road, Sgt. Ignacio Lopez said. Officers arrived and found the victim next to his bicycle.

Officers and emergency medical personnel attempted to revive the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, Lopez said. Officers determined the Kia Soul was headed westbound on North River Road at the time, but it was unclea...
