Felon who attacked Hemet girls gets life in prison

MURRIETA - A Hemet landscaper who sexually assaulted two teenagers -- one of whom he bit and slashed -- was sentenced today to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Jorge Luis Herrera, 32, was convicted Sept. 19 of kidnapping to commit rape, assault to commit mayhem, attempted voluntary manslaughter, assault resulting in great bodily injury, as well as multiple counts of lewd acts on a minor, with sentence-enhancing allegations of committing a sex offense during an abduction.

Riverside County Superior Court Judge Angel Bermudez imposed the sentence required by law.
