Garden Club members donate beautified pumpkins to YANA seniors

FALLBROOK – On Oct. 8, the Fallbrook Garden Club held a Succulent Study Group Workshop and created 60 pumpkins decorated with living plants. All 60 pumpkins were donated to seniors who participate in the Sheriff’s Senior Volunteer Patrol’s “You Are Not Alone” (YANA) program.

YANA participants are seniors who generally live alone and are befriended and checked on by members of the volunteer patrol.

Manny Ortega, commander of the Senior Volunteer Patrol, said, “Many thanks to the Fallbrook Garden Club members for brightening the day of these deserving folks.”

Jeanne Meadows, the creative force behind this effort stated that the Fallbrook Garden Club hoped to really make a difference by showing the seniors that they truly are not alone and that the community really cares

about them.
