What's living in your mailbox?

The population is increasing at an alarming rate in Fallbrook, and I don’t mean by more human beings.

According to US Postal Service, mail carriers serving Fallbrook-area addresses are finding that mailboxes are being inundated by both Black Widow and Brown Widow spiders.

“On some of our local streets, they are in every mailbox; you can see the spider webs under the box and the post,” said Susan Thomas, safety captain for Fallbrook Post Office mail carriers. “My route is heavily impacted by them.”

Thomas said her route includes Winter Haven Road, Summerhill Lane, and the Peppertree Park area....
