Shortly after noon today, a vehicle accident led to lane closures on southbound Interstate 15, just south of Mission Road, causing severe traffic congestion.
According to officers, a truck pulling a concrete pumping trailer was blocking lanes; the truck was on fire.
In addition to traffic delays, motorists experienced significant smoke in the area.
Emergency responders were on the scene for about two hours.
A clean-up effort was needed in order to remove diesel gasoline and hydraulic fluid from the roadway.
At shortly after 2 p.m., all lanes had been reopened to traffic but traffic congestion was still high.
