Sapphire fiber optics may test nuclear reactor temperatures

During the Aug. 17-21 annual meeting of SPIE, the international optical society which held its annual conference at the San Diego Convention Center, Jon Greene of Lambda Instruments addressed research on the use of sapphire optical fibers to test the temperature inside nuclear reactors.
