Bomb threat in Valley Center proves to be hoax; one arrested

VALLEY CENTER - On Thurs., Dec. 4, at approx. 4 p.m., San Diego County Sheriff's deputies from the Valley Center substation learned that an email had been sent to a news station indicating the sender had placed explosives in the area. The sender claimed to be targeting SDG&E work trucks in a land use dispute.

According to Sgt. Jeff Lauhon, "Sheriff's bomb and arson investigators responded to the area of Spearhead Trail in Valley Center and closed the trail for approximately two hours while they ensured it was safe."
