Supervisors take no action on proposal to cap use of 'Outside Counsel'

RIVERSIDE - A proposal to restrict the county's use of private attorneys in the interest of saving money was booted from the Board of Supervisors' agenda today, without explanation, though it will apparently be brought back next month.

Riverside County Chief Counsel Greg Priamos had submitted proposed changes to county policy A-18, which specifies how and when agencies should seek outside assistance to handle government business.

Priamos wrote that his aim was to ''reduce the county's reliance on the services of outside counsel.'' However, before the board meeting began, he pulled the proposal...
