Abandoned pit bull ‘Harley’ receives love in Fallbrook

When Lanya Harrell caught site of an emaciated pit bull on Harris Trail in De Luz, she dropped everything to help. “He was defeated, ready to give up.” Harrell talked about finding the pup and the emotional experience that followed, saying, “I had to lift him into the car. He was skin and bones; his teeth were worn down to nothing.”

According to Harrell, finding an abandoned dog in the De Luz area is nothing new. “I’ve seen dogs hit by cars on that road, or wandering, malnourished. They’re either bait dogs, or dogs no longer able to fight, it’s a tragedy.” Harrell said.
