CIF allows schools to declare “dead period” for each sport

The CIF San Diego Section has a two-week “dead period” in which coaches can not participate in organized activities with student-athletes. Beginning with the summer 2015 contact prohibitions, schools can select a two-week dead period for each sport.

The Jan. 21 CIF Board of Managers vote to allow each school to specify a two-week dead period for each sport had no opposition. Each school will submit a form to CIF assistant commissioner John Labeta stipulating the starting date and ending date of the non-contact period for each of the school’s sports.
