UPDATE: Fireworks set off at Ethan A. Chase Middle School, five injured

UPDATE: Five students at a Menifee school today complained of

hearing problems after firecrackers were ignited on the campus, authorities said.

The pyrotechnics were set off about 11 a.m. at Ethan Chase Middle School in the 28100 block of Calm Horizon Drive, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

"It happened somewhere outside,'' Deputy Armando Munoz told City News Service. "Illegal fireworks were brought onto the grounds and ignited in a group of students.''
