Fallbrook Library reaches out to grandfamilies

FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Library is creating a GrandFamily Resource Center dedicated to grandparents and grandchildren and will feature a collection of informational resources to help grandfamilies solve the unique legal, financial, medical, educational, and other challenges that often come along with raising grandchildren. Library staff can help grandparents and grandchildren by identifying resources and find assistance that is provided by other community and state agencies.

Millions of grandparents have returned to the role of parent as they assist with or assume the responsibilities of raising their grandchildren. San Diego County Library is now offering new services to connect this underserved part of the community with the resources they need, and provide programming that supports these special intergenerational relationships. This group is also open to all relatives who are raising children not their own.

A GrandFamily Support Group will have its initial meet and greet with refreshments at the Fallbrook Library located at 124 S. Mission Road, from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday, May 8.
