Sheriff's Dept. pursues stolen vehicle; catches suspect on Interstate 15 at State Route 76

An Escondido man driving a stolen vehicle was taken into custody today (Wed., June 24) in Fallbrook after pursued by Sheriff's deputies from the Valley Center station.

According to Sheriff's Sgt. Jeff Lauhon, at about 11:44 a.m. today, a Valley Center detective saw the suspect driving a car that had recently been reported stolen out of Escondido.

"The detective followed the vehicle, a blue Honda CRV, until patrol units could join in," explained Lauhon. "When they did, they tried to stop the suspect at Valley Center and Cole Grade Roads, but the guy wouldn't pull over."
