Remains of missing Oceanside man believed to be dementia patient found in desert area

OCEANSIDE - A body found in the desert north of Los Angeles Sat. morning, August 15, was that of a 76-year-old man who went missing July 22 in Oceanside, authorities said.

Oceanside police Lt. Leonard Cosby confirmed the body of Nickolaos Christidis, who possibly suffered from dementia, was found about three quarters of a mile from where his black 2015 Honda Civic was located on Thursday.

Deputies and volunteer search and rescue teams located the body about 11:30 a.m., Cosby said.
