Physician enters 'not guilty' plea in sexual assault case

MURRIETA - An Escondido doctor accused of sexually assaulting a patient during surgery at a Temecula hospital was charged Friday, Aug. 21 with multiple felony and misdemeanor counts.

John F. McGuire of Carlsbad, 44, pleaded not guilty during an arraignment this afternoon at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta.

McGuire was charged with two counts each of sexual penetration of an unconscious victim, sexual battery on a restrained person and attempted lewd acts on a unconscious victim. He's also facing two misdemeanor charges of sexual exploitation by a physician.
