Woman pleads guilty for deadly DUI crash near Pala

VISTA - A woman who drove drunk and caused a head-on collision on state Route 76 near Pala, killing her back-seat passenger, pleaded guilty Friday, Sept. 4, to four charges, including gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and

DUI causing injury.

Mirella Trevino, 42, will be sentenced to 15 years and four months in state prison at a hearing Oct. 5.

Trevino, of Oceanside, was arrested after the 6 a.m. accident last Dec. 14. According to the California Highway Patrol, Trevino was driving east on the highway in a Chrysler Sebring when she skidded into a curve and ended up in
