ESCONDIDO - A drunken driver and driver's license checkpoint in Escondido yielded three arrests, a police lieutenant said today.
The checkpoint was Friday night, Sept. 18, in the area of Centre City Parkway and Decatur Way, said Escondido police Lt. Justin Murphy.
More than 1,350 vehicles drove through the checkpoint and about half of those drivers received primary screening for sobriety or driver's licenses, Murphy said.
Officers took a closer look at 39 drivers who were suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, or could not produce a driver's license, he said.
