LAKE ELSINORE: One southbound lane open due to tanker fire

LAKE ELSINORE - A tanker truck hauling more than 8,000 gallons of fuel erupted in flames today on Interstate 15 just north of Lake Elsinore, prompting authorities to shut down the freeway in both directions for nearly two hours. The non-injury fire was reported at 1:05 p.m. on southbound I-15, near Nichols Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. Ten minutes after the fire began, CHP officers closed both sides of the interstate. A SigAlert was still in effect as of 5 p.m..
