UPDATE: Homicide suspect Juan Garcia shot and killed himself, authorities say

UPDATE (Wed., Dec. 9, 2:30 p.m.): The Medical Examiner’s Office has NOW conducted the autopsy of the Hispanic male adult, who was found deceased at 3075 N. Broadway in Escondido. He has been positively identified as Juan Garcia age 50 of Escondido. The cause of death has been determined to be by gunshot and manner has been determined to be suicide.

UPDATE: Juan Garcia (a.k.a. Jose Luis Paredes), 50, may have been found dead in the couple's home yesterday, Tues., Dec. 8.

Authorities say the following information is fragmentary and has not been completely verified. It is based, in part, on hearsay and is intended for early information use rather than being a formal investigative report.

"On December 8, at about 11 p.m., deputies from the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station were called to a home located at 3075 N. Broadway in Escondido . This home was the sight of a domestic violence-related homicide on December 5. Deputies had information that the suspect from that homicide, Juan Garcia, may be in the area. Deputies responding this evening were assisting family members of the victim Teresa Ortiz, recover personal property from the home. Deputies conducted a protective search of the home before family members were allowed inside. During the search, deputies found a Hispanic male adult deceased inside the home. The deceased male matched the description of the homicide suspect Juan Garcia. The Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy and will determine the cause and manner of death along with the decedent’s positive identification. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Homicide Detail at (858) 974- 2321/after hours at (858) 565-5200."

UPDATE: New information for wanted murder suspect Juan Garcia

Authorities are asking the community to take a good look at these photos of 50-year-old Juan Garcia, who also goes by the name of Jose Luis Paredes.

New information in the search for murder suspect Juan Garcia.

Sheriff's investigators say Garcia (who also uses the name "Jose Luis Paredes" was last seen on Sunday, December 6th. He was driving a stolen 2003 silver Ford Taurus SE with California License Plate number: 7NNJ796. The car was stolen from the Thunderbird Driving Range located in the 26000 block of N. Centre City Parkway in Escondido.

Garcia's SUV was found abandoned near the crime scene, but he remains at large. Garcia is considered ARMED AND DANGEROUS. He is longtime resident of Escondido, but investigators say he may attempt to flee to his native country of Mexico.

Garcia is a Hispanic man standing 5'8" tall and weighing 180 pounds with brown eyes and curly, shoulder length black hair. He is clean shaven and has a small tattoo on the outside web of his right hand.

Garcia was last seen wearing a blue, long sleeve shirt, blue denim shorts, long white socks and white tennis shoes.
