Re: Military exercises should require a permit [Letter, Village News, 12/17/15]

I love seeing the ocean and the open space driving on the I-5 through Camp Pendleton. I also enjoy my freedom as an American (thanks to those who choose to defend us).

When we moved to Fallbrook five years ago, we signed disclosures acknowledging activities at Camp Pendleton, nuclear risks of San Onofre, and earthquake and fire dangers associated with living here.

Want to see environmental ruin? Open Pendleton to development. As the sign on I-5 reads, "Camp Pendleton.... Preserving California's Precious Resources", not the least of which is our freedom.

Thank you for being our neighbor, Pendleton.
