Fallbrook man who died in motorcycle crash indentified

SAN DIEGO – Authorities today publicly identified a 46-year-old Fallbrook man who was fatally injured in a motorcycle crash on Palomar Mountain over the weekend.

Peter Jones Chow lost control of his 2008 Yamaha R1 motorcycle on a curve in South Grade Road near Canfield Road and was ejected into oncoming traffic shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday, according to the California Highway Patrol and the county Medical Examiner's Office. Chow and his bike slid into the path of a 2008 Nissan Versa.

He was subsequently airlifted to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, but died from his injuries at the hospital later Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

SAN DIEGO – A Fallbrook man suffered fatal injuries in a motorcycle crash on Palomar Mountain, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 46-year-old man was traveling northbound on South Grade Road near Canfield Road Sunday at 3 p.m., when he dropped his 2008 Yamaha R1 and was thrown off while negotiating a curve, CHP Officer Jim Bettencourt said.

Both the bike and the rider slid into the opposite lane and were struck by a 2008 Nissan Versa driven by a 40-year-old Temecula man.

The motorcyclist was flown to Palomar Hospital via Mercy Air where he was pronounced dead. There were no other injuries, according to Bettencourt.

The CHP was investigating the crash to determine if the motorcyclist was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
