Fallbrook Golf Course, which was closed by owner Jack Lamberson on Saturday, June 25, will reopen Friday, July 1, under new ownership.
In a series of events on Tuesday, June 28, HGM Golf Enterprises, LLC, entered an agreement to purchase Fallbrook Golf Course, Inc., from Lamberson shortly after D-Day Capital, LLC, bought the note on the 116-acre Gird Valley property from First National Denver bank, Lamberson's lender.
NOTE: It was originally reported – by Lamberson to HGM's Harold Vaubel, who then relayed the information to reporters – that real estate investor Michael Schlesinger had bought the note on the property. Beverly Hills attorney Ronald Richards, who owns D-Day Capital, informed the Village News that the initial report on the note was incorrect and that Schlesinger has nothing to do with D-Day Capital, a dept purchasing company.
Harold and Linda Vaubel of Oro Valley, Ariz., are HGM Golf Enterprises. The Vaubels will make the monthly payments on the notes to D-Day Capital. Harold Vaubel said Cary Lee, CEO of Candylgolf Group, will eventually be a partner.
Harold Vauble has been in the golf business for 46 years.
"I have PGA Tour experience, KemperSports Management experience, and experience as a golf superintendent at a Top 100 rated golf course in the U.S. – Desert Forest Golf Club in Carefree, Ariz."
Vaubel said he has 34 years of experience as a golf course superintendent, working at courses in Arizona, Florida and California. That experience will come in handy as he tries to repair Fallbrook Golf Course's 18-hole layout, which has been largely neglected for several months as a result of Lamberson cutting costs while trying to sell the property.
"My priorities for the golf course are greens, tees, fairways, and roughs," said Vaubel. "And the main issue on any golf course is irrigation and we are already working on that. Can we, as of today, water the entire golf course? No. Within a month's time, two to three weeks, our desire is to have it so we can water the entire golf course."
Golfers can resume play at Fallbrook Golf Course Friday morning as the pro shop and snack bar will open at 7 a.m. Vaubel has yet to determine when the bar and restaurant will reopen, and who will be in charge of operating it.
A story detailing Vaubel's grand plans for Fallbrook Golf Course, including how much money he plans to invest in the course, will be featured in the print edition of the Village News on Thursday, July 7.
