FALLBROOK – Many people in Fallbrook and Bonsall were asked to evacuate and leave the area Dec. 7 as the Lilac Fire started to escalate and spread. As people started to scatter into neighboring towns and cities, many knew they couldn't bring their beloved pets with them.
Although the Fallbrook Animal Sanctuary is not a temporary boarding facility, the sanctuary found space to help the community during the challenging time. The result: 36 cats, 12 dogs and three birds were entrusted to the sanctuary for safe keeping while their owners headed elsewhere to safety.
