TEMECULA - Cal Fire San Diego reported late Tuesday that the Rock Fire, which was first reported on Saturday afternoon, is now 100 percent contained, as of 6 p.m. A total of 207 acres burned, according to Cal Fire San Diego.
The fire was located along Rock Mountain Drive near Sandia Creek Drive, just south of the Riverside County line and was estimated at 25-30 acres by 4:30 p.m. Saturday, a little more than an hour after it was first reported. It quickly spread to more than 200 acres before firefighters were able to stop its forward spread by about 7:15 p.m. Saturday.
Evacuation orders for around 100 homes were put in place Saturday, but lifted as of 6 p.m. Sunday, Cal Fire Capt. Issac Sanchez said. The fire has not caused any structural damage or injuries, but the cause of the fire remained under investigation.
