Jeremiah's Ranch hosts craft bazaar and self-determination presentation

FALLBROOK – Jeremiah's Ranch, a nonprofit which serves people with developmental disabilities such as autism and Down syndrome, will host the following August events.

Jeremiah's Ranch support group meets at 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 17, at North Coast Church, 1375 S. Mission Road, in Fallbrook. Larry White will be speaking about self-determination, which is a model of funding for people with developmental disabilities. The presentation will include funding models and who determines the services and supports a person needs. It will also cover regional center vendorization, person-centered planning and the timing and implementation of self-determination. A complimentary dinner will be provided by Z Cafe followed by the presentation and a question and answer session.

Jeremiah's Ranch support group meetings are made possible by funding from Fallbrook Regional Health District.

Karen Douglas will conduct a free craft workshop 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Aug. 18, at the College of Adaptive Education Headquarters, 911 East Elder St., behind Emmanuel Baptist Church in Fallbrook. The workshop is open to adults with developmental disabilities who are 18 and over. The creations will be left behind for later resale at holiday craft bazaars. The participants will keep 50 percent of the proceeds from the sale of these craft items.
