We can stop land use change of San Diego County, Plan FB-17. There’s an attempt to change the current zoning rules of one house per 2 acres to one house per 1 acre. The change request is for the purpose of putting up dozens of homes, north of Reche Road at the Wilt Road intersection. This project will bring construction turmoil for possibly years.
During the Lilac fire evacuation, traffic was backed up from Old Hwy 395 to Gird Road. With extra homes and cars during an evacuation, it would put us all into an already dangerous situation.
When the citizens of Fallbrook lost our hospital, we also lost access to the hospital’s emergency room. Temecula Valley Hospital is the closest source for hospital emergency care. If we should suffer heart attacks, strokes or numerous possible accidents, clogged roads and congestion along Old Hwy 395 or Interstate 15 can become a matter of life or death.
This vote is our moment. We can’t sit back and complain once construction starts. Come to the meeting, Sept. 12, at 1600 Pacific Highway in San Diego and fill your car with family and friends. Be there before 9 a.m. if you wish to speak.
This plan was rejected by the Fallbrook Planning Group in 2016. But like a bad penny, it’s back again – even though hundreds of other homes are already being built nearby in Horse Creek Ridge, Meadow Wood and Campus Park. The area contains premium steep growing land for agriculture which has been categorized by the county as “local, statewide, prime and unique farmland” – not as soil for more houses that none of our neighbors want.
The county planning commission met June 22 and voted down FB-17, 6-1. But there are no guarantees that the county supervisors will follow the planning commission’s suggestions. Your support is crucial at this time.
Supervisor’s meeting will be 9 a.m., Sept. 12, at the county Administrative Center in the board of supervisor’s chamber, 1600 Pacific Highway, Room 310, in San Diego. For county information, contact Kevin Johnston at (858) 694-3426 or [email protected].
