Charles William (Bill) Chain passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018. Bill was born to Charles and Elizabeth Chain in Ardmore, Penn. on September 18, 1934. After graduating high school, he attended Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Penn.
After college, he entered Naval Air Basic Training Command in Pensacola, Fla., where he received his Navy wings. He completed a very successful military career as a Marine Corps aviator, including two tours in Vietnam. His final assignment included duties as the VIP briefing officer for the Third Marine Aircraft Wing.
After retirement from the military, he joined USPA, a financial planning institution for retired military officers. His final retirement came in 1975.
Bill and Wilma were married on December 14, 1957 in Miami, Fla. God blessed them with three daughters: Cindy (Al) DeNapoli, Scottsdale, Ariz .; Kim (Greg) Reed, Laguna Niguel, Calif., and Diane Chain, Temecula, Calif., and one granddaughter, Renee Reed, Laguna Niguel.
He is survived by his wife, daughters, granddaughter and two sisters, Nancy Taylor, Jackson, N.J. and Susan Davis, Newtown Square, Penn., along with nieces and nephews Sandy, Wendy, Greg and Craig. Bill loved God, Family, and Country...in that order.
Services will be held at Sonrise Christian Fellowship in Fallbrook on Thursday, September 20 at 10 a.m. with private family burial following at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego.
