FALLBROOK – Fire Captain Jeff Griffith will speak about "Wildfires and Climate Change" at the Fallbrook Library Community Room 6:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 24. The library is at 124 S. Mission Road.
Griffith lives in Escondido and is a fire captain, paramedic and board member of the Palomar Health District. He is a second-generation firefighter and was evacuated himself as a child. He said he remembers having a fire season that was just in the summer. Now it's extreme weather all year long. He will speak about his personal experiences and the dangers firefighters face on the frontlines of wildfires.
The talk is presented by the Fallbrook Climate Action Team. In addition, members Bill and Pam Manning, who lost their home in the Lilac fire last year, have some pointers for residents to prepare for the next fire.
Fallbrook Climate Action Team is a local group of volunteers promoting discussion and action to mitigate the effects of climate change. The presentation is open to the public. Because the library closes at 6 p.m. on Mondays, attendees should use the patio entrance.
