Friends can help prevent youth suicide

Youth suicide has been declared a national health issue by the U.S. Surgeon General’s Office.

Almost one out of five young people have “seriously considered suicide” in the past 12 months. In fact, suicide is the second leading cause of death for ages 12-18 in California.

Suicide is one of the leading causes of preventable death for our youth. Many times, a young person will give clear warning signs before an attempt. By knowing the warning signs associated with suicide, and knowing how to help, you could save a life.
