FCAT presents The Greywater Project

FALLBROOK – Fallbrook Climate Action Team will host a talk about The Greywater Project on Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom. Meet Shreya Ramachandran who, as a teen, found low-tech ways to save water.

Ramachandran founded the Grey Water Project, a non-profit, in 2016. She received the Children's Climate Prize in 2019 and was named International Bio Genius in 2020. She was also seen in National Geographic and The Weather Channel. Her goal is to teach others how to save and reuse household water. She is currently a student at Stanford.

"My vision is to have grey water reuse become like paper and plastic recycling – something everyone knows how to do," she said. The Grey Water Project is also working towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 6. SDG6 is one of 17 Sustainable Development Goals established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015, the official wording is: "Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all." Specifically, SDG 6.3, 6.4 and 6.a work to substantially increase recycling and safe reuse of water globally, reducing the number of people suffering from water scarcity, and expanding international work for water efficiency, wastewater treatment and reuse technologies.
